work experience

Nokia S60 Web Applications Summer Intern

I worked from June 2008 to August 2008. My task in the S60 R&D team was to develop a web application solution for a dynamic front end for a streaming multimedia server system. This solution was to be used on not only PC browsers, but also on Nokia S60 de- vices. I was required to meet a certain list of requirements, but also added more features and functionality to further enhance the experience of the end user with no decrease in overall quality or negative impact on the planned release date. Following the completion of the project, full documentation and training sessions were made available to the test users who would be using this system on a frequent basis.

In the beginning of my freshman year of high school, I decided to establish my identity on the internet with my own personal website. While this site has taken on several forms through the years, the purpose of this site has been to teach myself several web programming languages including html, xhtml, css, php, and javascript. Most recently in the revisions of the site, I have decided to shift the focus from a blog, to a more professional hub of information about me. With a more simplistic design, I believe it allows for a more direct view of who I am and what I am capable of.

Hebron High School Concept

Hebron High School Concept

While only a concept, I worked on a complete redesign of the aging Hebron High School website in my Independent Study of Computer Science class that I took in my senior year of high school. My peers in the class encouraged me to show it to the Technology Department Head in order to hopefully replace the current website for the school with the one I created. While the department head was interested in the design, code, and work involved, she declined to consider replacing the site. I continue to work on it even though it has no real final purpose.

Hebron Key Club Website

Hebron High School Key Club

As the editor and one of the original founding members of the school and district's first Key Club, I was responsible for the creation and upkeep of the club's school website. Usually with weekly updates and a busy calendar, I employed the use of Wordpress, a free blog publishing platform written in php. While typically used for blogging, I modified the system to accomodate a more news based style of publishing to meet the clubs need of pushing updates to all of its members.

Java

Java

During my senior year of high school, I took Business Computer Programming which was heavily focused in the use of Java in desktop applications and web applets. While most of our work was concentrated in stub programs that had no real purpose, occasionally we would have the opportunity to expand on the programs that were assigned in class to include extra functionality or features. Showing profeciency in the Java curriculum taught, I was recommended by my instructor to continue to pursue programming in Independent Study in Computer Science.
